The Black River Canyon, near Watertown, NY, is a rare whitewater gem. Narrow canyon walls force the river through a constricted passageway where boulders and ledges turn the fast-moving river into a foamy maelstrom of thrilling whitewater rapids. This is high adventure rafting in a setting of idyllic coves and eddies - perfect for swimming, snacking or just plain relaxing - where picturesque waterfalls cascade over the canyon walls and into the river. The most powerful whitewater is usually found in May and June. But summertime flows are still impressive.
